I just discovered this RUSSIA TODAY TV Channel on my Cable Box.

It's all in English, and thus I can share it with my non-Russian speaking friends!

I don't know how independent its owners, RIA-Novosti (?), are, or if they are just a "front" for Kremlin... If you see Barbara Walters, ask her !

From this TV Channel I just learned that 2014 Winter Olympics will be held in Sochi.... Boy, Russia has come a LONG WAY!!!!!!!!!! And it's amazing how many Russians speak English, and pretty fluently..., and I don't mean just TV reporters...

Having DVR(TiVo like) helps -- I can skip the commercials and repeats... The format is a loop (15-30 min?), ala CNN Headline News... Some excellent content!!!!

I got a chuckle out of this Funny Namesake's Coincidence -- Boris Berezovsky - billionaire & pianist -- Can't Make It  Up!!!!

this site appears to be more independent, with English, Ukrainian etc. text Versions too (see top left column on that page). They also have their own TV Version (in Russain), and more Live Video here... This Live Broadcast Link 1 looks better than Link 2, but every computer is different. It's probably because Link 1 is Broadband-Higher Quality Version, while Link 2 is Lower Quality.

Sometimes, when I watch the Ukrainian TV programs, I often hear people struggling with their Ukrainian speech, so to conform to the political correctness! To me, they sound like they think in Russian, and try to translate it into Ukrainian, barely making it...

It seems like a bunch of folks from Lvov took over the entire Ukraine, and it's a low burner Cultural-Civil War - Donbas, Harkov - Russian Speaking Ukraine vs. West Ukraine... The Western Ukraine is Catholic, I think, while Easter/Russian Speaking Ukraine is Orthodox Christians... But, I am no expert on  Ukrainian History!

No matter what, they ALL would need to speak English, as the international language, and Russian too... Then their foreign business partners will have to learn Ukrainian, which requires more paperwork -- translations of documents etc. The more translations, the more gets lost in translation... It reminds me of software programs running in emulation vs. native to a platform. But, chances are most folks, who are not too technical, won't event know what that means. In short, it means SLOWER, which means more costly, time consuming exercise in stubbornness, or whatever... The next generation of Ukrainians will speak even better Ukrainian, and English...

Nationalism can be cute and colorful sometimes, and can feel good for the ego-self estime, but it also can be not too practical in terms of Global Economy etc... Hope they find the right balance... I wish all of them luck!!! Hopefully, whatever is done is done for the best!
