Welcome to Arkady's Straight Ahead Jazz Side...

These are some of my original compositions, which were recorded as "reference sketches, live as is" during the rehearsals, jams etc...

The idea was to preserve the vibe-feel of these compositions...

I hope to record these tunes for real someday...

BLUESNOST 3:10 -- Downlowd* to iTunes > iPod/iPhone - 2.9 MB, MP3

The title is a play on two words -- Blues and Glasnost... It was my humble tribute to Blues March, which is a legendary Jazz composition by the great Benny Golson, made famous by Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers...

CURESELF 2:44  -- Downlowd* to iTunes > iPod/iPhone - 2.5 MB, MP3

The Title is a play on two words -- Cure and Self, except, instead of the commonly used expression, Self-cure, I reversed the order, and made those two words into one, which kind of makes it into a homonym to words Carusel..., or Curse Self...

Musically speaking, this composition was inspired the great Horace Silver. And the title came to me as I was driving, and heard Horace's interview on one of these two, WBGO or WKCR, New York City area Jazz Radio Stations. Horace was talking about self-reliance, in the context of Jazz artists having to look out for themselves, so not to rely on the record companies for recording contractsand other career developement factors... It was mind-blowing for me to realize that even a giant, such as HORACE SILVER could have issues like that!!!...

MUSICIANS: Ron Horton, trumpet; Mike Holober, piano; Chuck Bergeron, bass; Dick Weller, drums

During these sessions I also learnt that it's not easy to play a perfect solo and be a recording engineer at the same time, live on the fly... , but I did learn a few things about using my recording studio...

The General "Rule" is -- if you think I might want to hear the file again -- Download it!!!

All these Audio Files are in MP3 format. To hear them, click on the Speaker Icon like this and Audio will start playing in a New Window or Tab, depending on how your web browser preferences are configured. After you are finishe listening to that Audio File, simply close that Window/Tab, and you'll be back on this webpage.

If you find the 1st etc.Audio File funny, I suspect that you might like all of them! In that case, you can easily Download them to your computer. Then you can hear them even if you don't have an Internet Connection. Better yet, if you Import them into your iTunes, you won't have to deal with Closing Windows/Tabs in the Browser. And of course, once these Audio Files are in your iTunes, you can easily transfer them to your iPods, or iPhones, and enjoy and share them wherever your are, online, of line, in the car, on the plane! Also, if you have these files in your iTunes, and you, or and your friends don't own iPod, or iPhone yet, you could burn these mp3's on a CD...

The best part for me is -- if you Download these files, you'd be saving me $$ on my website Hosting Fees, and you'd be saving yourselves time!  And your family and neighbors Connection Speed will be less effected, because Downloading is faster than Streaming Audio!!!

The General "Rule" is -- if you think I might want to hear the file again -- Download it!!!

These files are clean, no viruses, since they came from my Mac , but no promises... ...

TO DOWNLOAD these MP3's, Option (Mac), or Control (Windows) Key Click on the Speaker Icon like this and the file will be Saved to your Hard Drive, wherever you usually Save your Downloads...
