Speakers On?!?!

Music On/Off

"Names"...

backstage with the great Tony Bennett
with Michael Imperioli, formerly "Christopher" in Sopranos on HBO. He is now one of the lead characters in ABC TV Series "Life On Mars", read my poem about it!!!
Michael C. Hall absolutely "killed" on Broadway, in "Chicago". I am the biggest fan of HBO's "Six Feet Under", and "Sopranos" too, including this great parody of it:)!
a real sport, Joe Torre didn't mind doing this with me in the bathroom (!!!), at the Rainbow Room, in NYC, during Garth Brooks' "Christmas Special"!!! More Info...
Garth made me laugh just in time for this shot... More Info...
As I was running out of film, I told Gloria Estefan and Jonathan Butler that it would be cheaper this way! We were doing doing Leonard Bernstein's "West Side Story", in NYC's Carnegie Hall, with Dave Grusin's, and Mike Abene's arrangements etc.
So I asked this guy "What's your name?". He said "I am Phil...". Later on I was told that this guy, Phil, was Phil Ramone!
Susan Lucci, Opening Night of Tommy Tune's "White Tie and Tales"....
Joan Rivers, was  at that Opening Night too. A Show Biz "pro", with "one of the guys" vibe!
That show was such Fun Gig! See more "Names" photos on that show's Un-Official Site...
at a fundraiser, Dr. Ruth bought my CD. She did that 3 years in a row! Finally, after she paid me for the 3rd one, I couldn't resist asking her if she realized that it was the same Arkady, "The Other Side" CD! She told me that she knew that, and she was simply trying to set a good example for the other people at the party! How sweet is that?!
when Dave Letterman was pointing at Arkady...
he could have been talking about ...    Arkady...   as a baby:)

   Musicians...

Amazing player, and "people" too, Vinnie Colaiuta, subbing for Dave Weckl, and me, subbing for Ronnie Cuber. Lew Soloff in the background.

Jonathan Butler, subbing for Jon Secada:) ... "West Side Story", in NYC's Carnegie Hall, a "Subs Story" !!!

L-R: Frank Wess, me, Bill Evans (sax, sat next to me), subbing for Michael Brecker!, who knew?!...

L-R: Sammy Figueroa (did not send in a sub:), me, Vinnie Colaiuta (he and Frank Wess liked my poetry...)

Maestro, Dave Grusin! Jon Faddis... Tall, ha? Need a Lead Trumpet !?!
George Young! L-R: Ralph LaLama, Dick Oatts (always inspires me!)

Jerry Dodgion, sax! As a kid, back in Kiev, Ukraine, I was lucky to get his autogrpaph, as he passed through USSR with Thad Jones & Mel Lewis Big Band! See his photo at a jam session with my brother, Alex, in Moscow! Then I got to work with Jerry in NYC, including this Carnegie Hall job! Who knew?! Can't Make This Up! Sometimes dreams do come true...

At the rehearsal, I asked this guy: "What's your name? What do you do here"? Like no big deal, he answered something like: "I'm Phil... just helping out..." So I told him my name, and went back to play. Then I asked Bill Evans: "Who is that Phil guy"? Amazed, Bill asked me: "You don't know who Phil Ramone is"?! I said: "No!" - Funny, right? I guess, sometimes it's best not to know... Hey, that was before iPhone, so I couldn't Google him..:)!

As I was running out of film, I told Gloria Estefan and Jonathan Butler that it would be cheaper this way, 3 of us in 1 photo! I wasn't sure how many shots I had left in my disposable camera! It was before Digital Photography! We were doing Leonard Bernstein's "West Side Story", in NYC's Carnegie Hall, with Dave Grusin's, and Mike Abene's arrangements etc.

L-R: Ronnie Cuber & Michael Brecker! I took that photo at Bob Berg Memorial! These 2 Masters are among my biggest musical heroes! Michael recorded on that West Side Story Album - watch this great solo!!! But he didn't do that Dave Grusin gig at Carniegie Hall, where I would have sat next to him, as Ronnie's sub (Thank You, Ronnie!)! Who knew our paths would cross this way - Can't Make It Up!

Randy Brecker...!!!                                                                      John Patitucci...!!! We were the first ones arriving for the 10 AM rehearsal!!!
